A moody, high-energy studio with infrared heat hosting Hot Mat Pilates, Hot Mat Strength, and Hot Mat Yoga. This space has everything you need for dynamic workouts that build strength, increase flexibility, and leave you seriously sweating.

Hot Mat Pilates

Prepare to work up a serious sweat. This class redefines traditional mat Pilates with a modern twist, using equipment to create dynamic, flowing sequences that deliver a full-body workout. Suitable for all levels and held in a heated room at 30–34 degrees, the added warmth enhances cardiovascular benefits while the creative layering and movement patterns build strength, tone, and overall mind-body awareness.

Hot Mat Strength

This class blends our signature Hot Pilates with functional strength training for a powerful full-body session. Using heavier weights, higher reps, and supersets, you'll build strength and endurance in a heated room at 30–32 degrees. Extended sets create the ultimate burn, while strategic bursts of intensity elevate heart rates for a strong and balanced workout.

Hot Mat Yoga

This class offers a modern take on yoga in a 30–32 degree heated environment. Expect a balanced flow that builds strength, mobility, and mindful awareness through purposeful sequencing. The warmth supports greater ease in movement and enhances cardiovascular benefits, while longer holds and controlled transitions help develop stability and focus. Suitable for a wide range of experience levels, this session delivers a steady, grounding, and energizing practice.

The Hot Method FAQ

General

Where is the Studio located?

The Hot Method is located within The Parks Sports and Recreation Centre, 46 Cowan St, Angle Park SA 5010.

When you enter the Centre, scan-in at Customer Service (using the QR code in our YMCA SA App) and then head straight down the corridor and The Hot Method will be on your right next to the stairs.

What classes are available at The Hot Method

The Hot Method runs mat classes only: Mat Pilates, Strength and Yoga. Please see our timetable for scheduling and view the class descriptions on our website.

How old do you have to participate?

Participants must be ages 16 years or older.

Do I need to be a member to participate?

No.

Parks All Access members can purchase a membership add-on or have access to discounted Class Packs.

We very much welcome non-members. Anyone can purchase a Class Pack.

Bookings

How do I book a class?

The best way to book HOT METHOD classes is in the YMCA SA app (select The Parks as your location). Classes can also be booked in Client Portal in any browser.

  • Classes can be booked 4 days in advance
  • You can remove yourself from a class up to 2 hours prior to the class without penalty
  • A 5 spot ‘standby list’ is available. If a spot opens the first person on the standby list is automatically added to the class booking (email and SMS notifications are sent).

*You can 'favorite' Hot Method classes in the App, then set your filter to only show Hot Method classes.

Missed class penalties

Booked classes can be cancelled up to 2 hours prior to the class without penalty. Customers which do not attend 2 booked classes within a 21 day period will be blocked from making a class booking for 7 days. Any classes booked prior to the block, but during the block period, will be cancelled. This applies to members and non-members.

Class standby list

Once a class fills, a 5 spot standby list is available. Anyone booked into the class can cancel their attendance and free up a spot up to 2 hours prior to the start of the class without penalty. If a spot opens the first person on the standby list is automatically added to the class booking and an email and SMS notifications are sent.

Attending classes

What do I need to know for my first class?

We encourage you to arrive at least 5 minutes early so we can discuss any pre-existing conditions you may have.

If you are attending a single class and it is your first visit, keep in mind you will need to create a customer profile first. We suggest coming 15 minutes prior to facilitate this and purchase the class.

What do I wear and bring to class?

Bring a water bottle (no glass bottles), a towel, and workout wear you can move unrestricted and feel comfortable in. Please note that due to the heated room you will get sweaty. You may want to bring a change of clothes.

Can I attend with an injury, mobility issue, or pregnant?

Unfortunately, The Hot Method is not suitable for pregnancy.

If you have an injury or mobility issue, it is recommended to consult with your medical practitioner first. Always notify your instructor of any existing conditions so alternate exercises can be provided. As this is group exercise, we cannot offer rehabilitation programs and recommend consulting with a physio.

How long should I wait until going to class after giving birth?

While The Hot Method is not suitable while you are pregnant, around 6 weeks post natal you should be able to start participating (you should wait until being cleared by your doctor or mid-wife). Please pass any relevant information onto your instructor so we can provide suitable modifications.

How physically fit do I need to be to start?

We cater for all levels from beginner to advanced. Our classes have varying intensity levels. Be kind to yourself if you are just getting back into fitness and you are most welcome to take breaks where required. It is your journey and we aim to support you along the way.

Can I extend my expired pack or pass?

Unfortunately, we’re unable to extend or offer credits for expired class passes and packs. Each pack and pass has a set expiry date.
